Witnesses sought after elderly man attacked downtown

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Calgary police are looking for witnesses after a senior was attacked and robbed downtown last week.

Last Tuesday (Sept. 22), police said a man in his 70s was walking along 6 Ave. and 7 St. SW when he was approached by a man and woman who demanded his jacket.

The pair eventually showed a handgun before grabbing the man’s arms and pushing him to the ground, striking his head on the pavement.

They eventually took the man’s jacket and ran away.

He was taken to hospital for minor injuries.

Police are now hoping to speak to two witnesses who helped the man following the attack and anyone else who may have seen what happened.

If you have information on the robbery, you’re asked to call Calgary police or Crime Stoppers.
