CALGARY (CityNews) — The Pride crosswalk in downtown Calgary was seen spray-painted with a message Sunday.
The letters ‘BLM’ were spray-painted in black on the rainbow flag, located on Stephen Ave. at Centre St.
The Calgary Pride organization responded on Twitter Sunday evening, saying that they have requested that it not be altered for the time being.
They go on to say that the Pride movement “was born inside the courage of Black Trans folks who fought back in the face of oppression.”
The organization reaffirms its support for the Black Lives Matter movement, saying “Black Lives Matter. Indigenous Lives Matter. Trans Lives Matter. Their stories matter and they cannot be erased.”
