Two additional COVID-19 deaths, 143 new cases in Alberta

EDMONTON (660 NEWS) — Two more people have died from COVID-19 in Alberta for a total of 260 deaths.

The deaths involve a woman in her 80s from Calgary and a woman in her 70s in the North zone.

The death in Calgary was previously announced by Alberta Health Services (AHS) as part of the outbreak at the Foothills Medical Centre.

The province conducted more than 12,000 tests in the past 24 hours resulting in 143 cases of the virus.

Active cases have decreased by 45 to 1,520.

Fifty-nine people are in hospital, 13 of those in the ICU.

Over 15,000 Albertans have recovered from the virus.

Two more COVID-19 outbreaks were announced in schools bringing the total in the province to 27.

Four schools are now under a watch after Austin O’Brian in Edmonton was added to that list.
