Stabbing suspect arrested in wooded area in Calgary

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — After a fatal stabbing in southeast Calgary early Tuesday morning, police managed to arrest a suspect on Wednesday afternoon.

At around 4:45 a.m., police who were en route to an unrelated call discovered a man lying on the street in the community of Lynnwood. It appeared that he had stab wounds, and was declared dead at the scene.

Through their investigation, officers tracked a suspect to a wooded area in the southwest community of Patterson Heights. He was arrested with the help of mounted, canine and patrol units. Police add there was no risk to the public during this time.

The suspect is not being identified yet, as he is still being interviewed by homicide detectives and no charges have been laid yet.

This was the third of three deaths to occur in Calgary in the span of less than 24 hours. Police are looking for people who may have information about a stabbing in the northeast on Monday afternoon, while a shooting death in the community of Falconridge also on Monday has been determined to not be criminal in nature.
