OSHAWA – Police said five people have been found dead in a home east of Toronto after an early morning shooting.
A spokesman for Durham regional police said multiple calls came in around 1:20 a.m. reporting the sound of gunshots from a home in Oshawa.
Cst. George Tudos said two of the victims are believed to be men and the other two are thought to be in their early teens, but police are awaiting confirmation from the coroner.
Tudos said officers also found a woman in the house with a gunshot wound and she was sent to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
He said investigators believe the shooter is among the dead.
“We’re waiting for our homicide team to arrive so we can get a better understanding of what exactly happened and what led to the shooting,” Tudos told reporters at the scene.
Police said they’re not looking for any more suspects and there are no community safety concerns.
