CALGARY (660 NEWS) – A fire in the northeast caused some damage to a slowpitch ball diamond Friday morning.

Fire crews were called to the Jaycee Slowpitch Park on 39 Ave NE, just after 7:00 a.m.

Battalion Chief Alistair Robin said when crews arrived, they found a shed had caught fire.

“There was a really long approach in from the hydrant so crews had to be cognizant of the amount of hose that was laid out and brought in a second truck to relay just to keep water volume and pressure up.”

Robin said nobody was at the park when they arrived but some vehicles and bleachers were damaged in the blaze.

Investigators are still looking into what caused the fire.
