ASIRT investigating an officer-involved shooting near Entwistle

ENTWISTLE (660 NEWS) – The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) says a man shot and killed by RCMP officers on August 30 had a loaded rifle in his vehicle and was threatening to use it.

The incident began with a phone call out of Saskatchewan for Alberta Mounties to keep an eye out for a 32-year-old man wanted for a domestic assault.

Police located the man near Entwistle, an area west of Edmonton, and police were able to stop his vehicle.

A confrontation began resulting in three members of the RCMP Emergency Response team to opened fire.

The man died on the scene.

The Alberta Police Watchdog is now looking for dashcam footage or any other cellphone video of the incident.
