Fire extinguisher used in jewelry store robbery in northwest

Police are looking for suspects in two separate incidents, a daytime robbery and a shooting.

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Police have released security photos of two suspects after customers were temporarily blinded by fire extinguisher spray during a jewelry store robbery in the northwest.

The two men entered Tany’s Jewelry in Northland Mall just before noon on Monday.

Police said the men used the extinguisher, threatened staff with a weapon, then stole several items from display cases.

The pair fled in a black Lincoln sedan.

Customers affected by the extinguisher spray were treated by paramedics and the Calgary fire department.

Thankfully, no one was taken to hospital.

Police said both men were wearing masks at the time of the robbery. One wore a hard hat and construction vest while the other man was wearing a light grey hoodie and ballcap.

Investigators are asking anyone with cell phone video of the robbery dashcam video from the parking lot or has any information on the suspects to call Calgary police or Crime Stoppers.
