CALGARY (660 NEWS) – A little girl is in critical condition after a near-drowning at Prairie Winds Park in the northeast.

Stuart Brideaux from EMS says they were called to the scene Thursday around 4:30 p.m. on initial reports of a 2-3-year-old girl found in the pool by staff and bystanders who initiated first aid at the scene and called 911.

Brideaux adds the girl was taken to Peter Lougheed Hospital in critical, life-threatening condition.

Police blocked intersections to assist with getting the girl to the hospital.

The splash park and wading pool at the northeast park was one of four that fully re-opened in July after being closed due to the pandemic.
