Fire bans in effect in Calgary area

By 660 NEWS Staff

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – The hot weather and lack of rain have led lead to more fire bans in the Calgary area.

Campfires are now banned in Foothills County, south of the city, as well as for the south section of the Calgary forest area, which covers an area south of Chain Lakes down to Waterton.

There’s a fire restriction for the forest area west of Calgary, south of the Trans Canada Highway. That means fires are only allowed on private land or in campground fire pits.

Rocky View County is currently under a fire advisory.

The bans will say in effect until it becomes safe enough to remove them.
