Youth Employment Centre reopens its doors for teens and young adults

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Calgarians from the ages of 15 to 24 are getting a helping hand to get back into the workforce.

The city’s Youth Employment Centre (YEC) is back open for in-person appointments for those in that age group.

The Centre had put a pause to the in-person help back in mid-March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

While under the restrictions, the YEC was still able to help more than 1,000 Calgarians in that age bracket with their resumes and employment counselling over the phone or online.

Those wishing to make an appointment at the YEC can due so online or by calling in advance.

“We encourage any youth between the ages of 15 and 24 who would like help looking for a job, preparing for an interview and accessing the workforce to make an appointment,” said Jaspreet Sandhu with the Youth Employment Centre in a release.

“Job seekers will notice some changes when they visit us, but it’s all designed to help protect the health and safety of staff and youth while still creating a positive learning environment.”

Health restrictions and the Calgary mask bylaw will be in effect.

The YEC, located in the Alberta Trade Centre, is open from Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m to 4:30 p.m.
