Calgarian looking for stolen violin worth $10,000

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – A Calgary-based musician is asking fellow fiddlers across the country to watch out for her stolen antique violin.

Lynsey Mackenzie estimates the instrument, crafted in the 1800s, is worth more than $10,000.

She said it was taken from a parked car in the southeast community of Sundance sometime between midnight and 8:00 a.m. Sunday.

In a Facebook post, Mackenzie expressed disappointment with comments she’s received on social media, blaming her for leaving the fiddle in the car.

Police have released surveillance photos of a possible suspect who was captured by a neighbourhood security camera, checking cars the night after the violin went missing.
