CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Water levels on the Elbow River will be rising and falling this week as the city is testing the gates at the Glenmore Dam.
The work is part of a three-year dam improvement project to upgrade the system which has been in place for the past 85 years.
Testing of the gates as part of the Glenmore Dam improvements project is going well & will continue this week. You may see water levels rise on the Elbow River but the levels will be within our normal summer range & it's still safe to access the river. https://t.co/4OmP5zHoxo

The city said the renovations will increase drinking water supply resiliency and help manage low river flows in the winter and high runoff in the spring.
Fluctuations in the water levels this week will be within normal summer range meaning it’s still safe to float on the Elbow River.
