No more free masks at your favourite drive-thru

EDMONTON – The Alberta government said its program to hand out free masks has ended.

The province said 40-million non-medical masks were distributed at A&W, McDonald’s and Tim Hortons locations, as well as through community partners like churches, transit services and First Nations.

Community and social-service partners who have developed their own distribution timelines may still have masks available.

At this time, the government said it has no plans to distribute more free masks.

The United Conservative government launched the free mask program in June, providing 20 million masks at that time.

An additional 20 million were made available less than two weeks later.
