Calgary police wanting to speak with man involved in missing person investigation

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Calgary police are looking to speak with one man who they believe met up with a woman who was reported missing last week.

On July 24, the family of Vida Smith reported her missing to Chestermere RCMP.

Calgary police took over the investigation shortly thereafter.

Police say according to a day planner belonging to Smith, she was scheduled to meet up with Kevin Barton on July 21 at around 12:30 p.m. at a coffee shop in northeast Calgary.

Barton is believed to be a friend of Smith’s.

According to Smith’s family, she had a medical appointment on July 23.

Smith, 69, is described as 5’3, about 110 pounds with brown and brown eyes.

She was last seen by her family on July 21 wearing a black tank top, patterned skirt and carrying a black purse.

Barton, 60, is 6 feet tall and 210 pounds.

Police say Smith was driving her 2002 Nissan Altima with the Alberta license plate WBE-070 on the last day she was seen.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
