This comes just four days before Calgary’s mandatory mask bylaw comes into effect.

Council says that rather than making a mask bylaw now, they will see if the city’s number of cases rise and then act accordingly.

They say they would put the bylaw in effect if the city reaches an “enhanced status” with Alberta Health Services.

“This is an unprecedented time requiring unprecedented decision making,” said Mayor Peter Brown in a release.

“Thank you to our residents, businesses and everyone for sharing your passionate opinions and engaging with us on this important topic”.
