NHL announces zero positive COVID-19 tests in final week of Phase 3 camp

EDMONTON – The NHL announced that it saw zero positive COVID-19 test among the 4,256 that were administered over the final week of the league’s Phase 3 training camp between July 18-25.

Those tests covered the more than 800 players participating in camp, per the league. In the week prior, July 13-17, the league saw two positive tests out of 6,874 administered.

With all 24 teams, each with 52 total members made up of players and staff, now in the Toronto and Edmonton hub cities.

All players will be separated from the general public and undergo daily COVID-19 testing.

Practices are closed to the media as teams gear up for exhibition games starting Tuesday.

The best-of-five qualifying round starts next Saturday, along with the seeding round for the top four teams in each conference. The Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, Winnipeg Jets, Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks all are in the qualifying round.
