The Miami Marlins‘ home opener against the Baltimore Orioles Monday has been postponed after multiple Marlins players and coaches tested positive for COVID-19.
Eight more players and two coaches with the Miami Marlins have tested positive for COVID-19, as an outbreak has spread throughout their clubhouse and brought the total of cases in recent days to at least 14, sources familiar with the situation tell me and @JesseRogersESPN.

Orioles general manager Mike Ellis confirmed the news to the Associated Press. ESPN’s Jeff Passan and Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic were first to report the game would not be played.
The Marlins remain in Philadelphia, where they played a three-game series with the Phillies over the weekend. The Phillies were scheduled to host the New York Yankees on Monday, but Rosenthal reports that game has also been postponed.
The #Marlins had 4 confirmed cases from Friday testing and the game in Philly was still played yesterday. So it is not just Mia personnel who were exposed. It was those with the #Phillies, umpires, anyone who had access to the field, etc.

Passan and ESPN’s Jesse Roberts report that 12 players and two coaches have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the last two days. According to MLB Network’s Joel Sherman, four of the positive tests came for players who were tested on Friday and got their results back Sunday, while the other cases were discovered Monday morning.
The Marlins scratched Sunday starter Jose Urena before the game and placed catcher Jorge Alfaro on the injured list Friday, but reasons for those decisions were not disclosed by the team.
