Alberta Mountie injured following aggravated assault incident

FORT SASKATCHEWAN (660 NEWS) – An RCMP member near Edmonton has had to undergo surgery after getting attacked responding to a break and enter.

RCMP said they got a call Thursday morning that a man had broken into a home, and when they arrived, they found the suspect in the basement in medical distress.

They quickly performed live-saving efforts.

The man regained consciousness and shortly thereafter started attacking officers and EMS.

One of the officers was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury and had to have surgery.

Jesse Bradley Ham, 33, of Edmonton now faces five charges that include:

·        Aggravated assault on a police officer
·        Unlawfully in a dwelling house
·        Fail to comply with release order condition
·        Resist peace officer
·        Obstruct peace officer

Ham remains in custody and his first court appearance is July
