Penguin ‘Roz’ at Calgary Zoo passes away

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – A penguin who resided at the Calgary Zoo passed away suddenly, according to the Zoo.

A post-mortem finds 11-year-old Gentoo ‘Roz’ died of a reproductive tract tear.

“One of the hardest things we do at the Calgary Zoo is say goodbye to the animals we love and care for,” a statement from the Calgary Zoo on Tuesday said.

“Roz arrived at the Calgary Zoo in January 2012 from the Edinburgh Zoo and was a cherished member of the Calgary Zoo family.”

Gentoos typically live 15-20 years in captivity.
