Stampede 2020 ends with massive firework display

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — Even though the Calgary Stampede didn’t run as usual this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it ended its final day in a spectacular way.

Stampede 2020 closed off what would have been the final day of the annual event on Sunday with a massive fireworks display.

The fireworks, which are typically held every night of Stampede, were only fired off on the first and final day in trying to keep with Stampede spirit.

There was some concern after the first night on July 3 as there were reports of very little social distancing from people who watched the show near the grounds.

The Stampede and health officials urged those who attended the final fireworks display not to gather together to help protect each other.

Stampede is scheduled to take place in 2021 from July 9-18.
