Financial stress biggest concern for Albertans during pandemic: survey

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — Albertans are keeping a close eye on their bank accounts during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A recent national poll by FP Canada shows more than 40 per cent of people in the province ranked money as their biggest cause of stress in life.

Health ranked second at 28 per cent, relationships at 17 per cent and work at 15 per cent followed financial stress on the list.

People aged 18-34-year-olds are feeling the strain as 44 per cent in that age group ranked it number one, but only 25 per cent of people aged 65 and older had it as top stress.

More than half of Albertans, though, did say they have seen their finances impacted by the pandemic with 17 per cent saying they were significantly impacted.

The stress about being able to make ends meet has also cost people sleep as 54 per cent of women and 43 per cent of men say they had lost sleep due to financial concerns.
