Alberta reports one death, 46 new cases of COVID-19

EDMONTON (660 NEWS) — Alberta Health officials say a man in his 80s from the South zone has died after contracting COVID-19.

The death was not linked to continuing care.

The province conducted 6,268 tests in the past 24 hours, with 46 of those coming back positive for COIVD-19.

As of Wednesday, there are 608 active cases province-wide.

A list of active cases by zone:

  • Calgary zone: 230
  • Edmonton zone: 243
  • Central zone: 4
  • South zone: 86
  • North zone: 51
  • Unknown: 6

Fifty-five people are in hospital, seven of those in the intensive care unit.

Health officials continue to monitor a condominium complex in Calgary’s East Village, which currently has 17 active cases.

There have been 7,659 recoveries out of the 8,436 total cases found in Alberta.

The province has now completed over 500,000 tests.
