MyFare transit app now available on the iPhone

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – After a delay that frustrated many Calgary Transit riders, a new app is finally available on the iPhone.

On Canada Day, the City of Calgary launched its MyFare app, a mobile ticket app that allowed riders the convenience of purchasing passes on their phone.

However, the app was only available to Android users leaving riders with iPhones out in the dust.

“We had to make a couple of technical changes for the iOS version as Apple had asked us to adjust some of the technical requirements just so we could meet their standards so it caused a little bit of a delay,” said Stephen Tauro with Calgary Transit.

“We submitted that on June 30 and good news is it’s live today.”

On Friday morning, Calgary Transit tweeted the app was ready to download on the iOS store.

Despite the rollout of the new electronic tickets, Tauro added it doesn’t mean Calgary Transit is going fully digital.

“We’re going to keep all fare payment options available for all customers. Electronic is just one additional way for customers to purchase their fare.”

Calgary Transit said any iPhone users who bought single ride tickets or day passes for July 1-3, can get a refund.

Once they install the My Fare they can visit one of the customer service centres with proof of purchase.
