CALGARY (660 NEWS) – A Calgary nurse is sharing a story about a gruesome accident involving an e-scooter.

In a Facebook post, Tanya Marie says she and her daughter were driving on Centre Street North Monday evening when they saw a man lying on the side of the road with an e-scooter lodged in his leg.

Marie says she and other passersby stopped to help the man, who was bleeding profusely and screaming in pain. One of the witnesses used their shirt to apply a tourniquet around his leg.

Paramedics were called but the Calgary Fire Department was needed to cut off part of the scooter so the man could be placed on a gurney and rushed to hospital.

Calgary EMS confirms a man in his 50’s suffered a traumatic injury to his leg.

Marie says the man had been riding his own scooter, not one of the short-term rental scooters available in the city.
