Toddler in serious condition following hit and run

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – A toddler is in hospital in serious condition after a hit and run in the southeast community of Deer Ridge.
It happened near the Deerfield Villas apartments just after 10:30 Monday morning.
The 17-month-old girl was originally taken to Alberta Children’s Hospital in critical condition but has been upgraded to serious.

Police are now searching for the driver responsible.
“We believe it to be a smaller SUV, dark in colour. At this point, we believe that, potentially, the motorist may not be aware that they struck the child and left the area, unaware that they di cause injury to the child,” said Sgt. Steve Campbell.
Police say the girl was playing in a cul-de-sac when she was hit.
