Alberta's first phase of its free, non-medical masks distribution plan comes to an end

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – You’ll no longer be able to get your free, non-medical masks at your local drive-thru as the province is ending phase one of its mask distribution program for the time being.

In the first two weeks of phase one of the provincial relaunch strategy, more than 14 million masks were given out at McDonald’s, A&W and Tim Horton’s drive-thrus.

Another six million went to different municipalities, senior groups, indigenous partners and places of worship.

“Thank you to all our partners for helping our government distribute millions of non-medical masks to every corner of Alberta,” says Alberta Health Minister Tyler Shandro.”

No other province in Canada has accomplished such a feat.”Starting next month, another 20 million masks will be available at drive-thrus and other partners.

More details will be announced in a couple of weeks.
