‘We don’t do drive-bys. We Stop:’ an old t-shirt with a Calgary Police Service logo and a concerning message

‘We don’t do drive bys… We stop!’ An old t-shirt found at a second-hand store with the Calgary Police Service logo and a concerning message, leading to questions about who made it and what message they were trying to get across.

CALGARY (CityNews) – An old shirt found a second-hand store with the saying “We don’t do drive-bys. We Stop,” along with the Calgary Police Service logo has led to many unanswered questions.

“I think it’s one of those shirts the public was never meant to see. Even if it wasn’t meant for the public if definitely still gives you a pretty good glimpse into the mentally of, I would assume, a lot of the members”

The man who found the t-shirt, who would like to remain anonymous says he found the shirt at a second-hand store in Edmonton within the last year.

However, the shirt may be a lot older given the worn-out tag and the graphic style.

“I was just a little surprised because it just really promotes a culture of violence and a real us versus them mentality. And yeah, it just depicts an unreasonable amount of violence for what they’re supposed to be doing.”

A statement from Calgary Police reads “We are still looking into where this shirt came from, but our understanding is that it is a very old design and believed to be from another organization. Regardless, we have much more rigour around how our logo can be officially used by the CPS. This would most definitely not be approved for this purpose and does not meet our current standards or threshold.”

The man says he decided to come forward with the t-shirt because “It definitely speaks to a lot of what’s going on right now with the us versus them.”
