Winsport prepares to reopen this weekend with restrictions

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Winsport is preparing to reopen for the summer now that the province is easing COVID-19 restrictions, but it will not be a typical experience.

While most summer camps have been cancelled, mountain bike camps will go ahead beginning July 6 and running through Aug. 29.

Winsport will also be opening its mini-golf course, host weddings and different events.

Although the Alberta government has given the green light for some recreational facilities to open on Friday, the opening dates of the performance training centre and arenas at Winsport haven’t been determined.

Some restrictions to the facilities will be in place including reserving tee times online for mini-golf and only playing with members of your household.

Weddings will go ahead in the festival tent and the multi-purpose room at the Markin MacPhail centre with social distancing rules in place.

The summer mountain bike camps will only have six kids to an instructor and bike rentals will not be offered.

Winsport says staff have been working hard to understand the government’s relaunch requirements to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 once they reopen.
