Police arrest one in death of Calgary business owner, search for witnesses

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — Early Wednesday morning, Calgary police arrested one man in connection with the death of an innocent business owner.

The person is not being named until being formally charged and Calgary police expect to make additional arrests.

Officers are also looking to speak with two individuals who may have been witnesses.

Police are asking for the public’s help in locating Fritz Chiefmoon and Kiara Leather of Calgary as they could have information that could help with the investigation.

“We are asking anyone with information regarding the murder of Christophe Herblin to come forward,” said Staff Sergeant Martin Schiavetta of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit.

“This was a tragic, senseless event, and we continue to look for answers and seek justice for the Herblin family.”

The incident happened March 14 around 3 a.m., when Christophe Hebrlin responded to a break-and-enter alarm at his southwest business on Bow Trail across the street from Westbrook Mall.

Officers responded and cleared the location and the victim remained on scene waiting for the business to be secured by a contractor until around 6 a.m., when three people returned and the fatal incident happened.

Anyone who has information about the whereabouts of these people or details about the homicide are asked to contact the non-emergency line, the Homicide Unit Tip Line or Crime Stoppers.
