High streamflow advisory in effect for parts of Bow, Pipestone River

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — The province has put out a high streamflow advisory for parts of the Bow River west of Calgary, upstream of the Ghost Lake Reservoir.

Alberta’s River Forecasting Centre says water level rises of more than half-a-metre are expected on the mainstream of the Bow.

They say basement flooding in Canmore is not expected with the current forecast, but a slight increase in the temperature could cause the river level to rise enough to start flooding as more of the snowpack melts.

An advisory is also out for the Pipestone River near Lake Louise, which has risen 20 centimetres since Saturday and could close some trails and picnic areas.
