CALGARY (660 NEWS) — A charge of second-degree murder has been laid against a 37-year-old man in connection with a hit and run that killed a 15-year-old boy in the northeast.

On May 13, a 2010 Dodge Journey was speeding on southbound 52 Street near 16 Avenue when it was struck from behind by a Buick Allure.

Investigators say this forced the Dodge over the centre line throwing 15-year-old Ibaad Yar from the vehicle, killing him in the process.

The Buick Allure stopped at the scene for a while before fleeing. It was later found unoccupied at a home in Saddleridge.

The driver of the Buick Allure, Udham Sandhu, has been charged with dangerous driving causing death.

Investigators say they would still like to speak to several people who were in a Chevrolet Tahoe that was spotted at the Saddleridge residence before and after the incident.

The Tahoe is believed to be a 2015-2020 model, dark in colour, with alloy wheels.

Anyone with any information about the Tahoe or it’s occupants is encouraged to contact the CPS or Crime Stoppers.
