Main road in Banff will be closed for summer

BANFF (660 NEWS) — You’ll have more space to keep your distance if you plan to visit the town of Banff when national parks re-open next month.

Banff Town Council has agreed to a temporary ban on vehicle traffic down part of the main drag through the tourist community.

The 100-200 blocks of Banff Avenue will be pedestrian-only through the summer.

Mayor Karen Sorensen says it will give space so visitors can observe physical distancing rules during the pandemic.

National parks have been off-limits to the public for several weeks, but some of those restrictions are due to be lifted in June.
