MEDICINE HAT (660 NEWS) – Four men have been arrested in the latest investigation by Alberta’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit.

The men, all from Medicine Hat, were allegedly involved in online child exploitation. Investigators say they didn’t know each other.

“Sadly, our ICE unit has been inundated with cases involving online child exploitation during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Supt. Dwayne Lakusta with the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT).

“While people are spending more time online, I can’t emphasize enough the need to implement safe internet practices and know-how in order to protect our children.”

Investigators seized a total of 43 computers and devices last week and will be conducting a full forensic analysis.

The four men, ranging in age from 27 to 78, face charges of child exploitation and possession of child pornography.
