AHS takes over Millrise Seniors Village following staffing issues

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — Alberta Health Services (AHS) is directly involved with operations at the Millrise Seniors Village in Calgary after challenges with staffing levels emerged following an outbreak of COVID-19.

“AHS has taken immediate actions to improve staffing, outbreak control, and infection prevention and control measures. These actions include supporting site management responsibilities through an onsite AHS care manager and daily meetings with site and AHS care teams, AHS Infection Prevention and Control teams and Zone Medical Officers of Health,” an AHS statement said.

Over the weekend, AHS deployed about 20 staff to the facility to help deliver care.

An outbreak at the site was declared on April 15 and there are currently 458 confirmed cases in continuing care facilities across Alberta.
