Crossfield residents under boil water advisory

CROSSFIELD (660 NEWS) – A town north of Calgary has told residents to boil their water.

The Town of Crossfield issued a boil water advisory on Wednesday after temporarily losing pressure in the water system.

“Because of that we are issuing, purely as a precautionary measure, a boil water alert because that’s standard procedure in Alberta,” said Ken Bosman with the town.

According to the town’s website, a valve was mistakenly closed as a result of incorrectly labelled plans from years ago. It was not caused by the contractors working on the Downtown Revitalization Project.

Workers will be digging up the road at the intersection of Railway St. and Laut Ave. to investigate and resolve the issue starting Thursday.

Bosman said the advisory will be in place for the next six days.
