Calgary Fringe Festival cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – The Calgary Fringe Festival has been added to the list of events in the city cancelled because of COVID-19.

The festival made the announcement Thursday afternoon saying their top priority is the health and safety of all the artists, staff, volunteers and festival-goers.

The summer event was scheduled to go from July 31 to August 8 across several venues in the city.

About 150 volunteers were expected to be involved.

Fringe had also made the decision to cancel in Edmonton last week which is the second-largest festival in the world.
The Calgary Fringe Festival has been going on for 15 years.
