Two more Albertans die from COVID-19, cases rise by 117

EDMONTON (660 NEWS) — Two more Albertans have died from COVID-19 in Alberta.
This comes as the province sees it’s largest one day jump in cases, rising by 117 to 871 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
The jump in cases is said to be related to a large number of tests being processed in the last day.

The two new deaths bring the provincial total to 11.
One of the deaths was a man in his 80s in the North-zone, while the other was also a man in his 80s from the Calgary-zone.

Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw says her greatest concern is the health and safety in continuing care facilities.
She says Alberta has 41 cases of the virus in continuing care facilities. 35 cases have been confirmed at Calgary’s McKenzie Towne Continuing Care home, 1 case at Care West Glenmore Park, 1 at Father Lacombe Care Centre and 4 cases at Edmonton’s Shepard Care Kensington Village.
