Service returns to Telus mobile users after earlier outage affected 911 calls

RED DEER (660 NEWS) – Service has returned to some Alberta communities after Telus mobility said customers could not make 911 calls.
Emergency alerts were issued for Airdrie, Red Deer, Rockyford and Clearwater County Wednesday morning saying an outage was impacting the ability of Telus mobile customers to contact 911.
Those alerts have been lifted and Telus says service is back to normal.

“Earlier this morning, there was a degradation of 911 service for some TELUS mobility customers in Alberta at specific locations. We immediately recognized the degradation, notified local municipalities and emergency services out of an abundance of caution, and have now fully resolved the issue,” the company said in an email statement.
“We know how critical connectivity is for our customers, especially during this public health crisis, and we sincerely apologize for the service interruption.”
Only Telus mobile customers were affected by this outage.
