Calgary police search for comic book bandit

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — Police are hoping a local superhero can step up and provide tips about a brazen comic book robbery.

On March 11, at around 8 p.m., a man was leaving Alpha Comics on 18 Street S.E. carrying a briefcase with three extremely rare comic books inside.

Two men grabbed him from behind and took the case, with the victim being thrown to the ground and sustaining minor injuries.

The suspects fled the scene on foot, leaving a vehicle behind.

Police quickly responded and secured the vehicle, and then arrested the vehicle owner who later returned to the scene.

However, a second suspect has not been identified, and the comics have not been recovered.

Police are looking for three issues of Fantastic Four, which they believe are worth a combined $50,000.

They are described as:

Fantastic Four #1 with a CGC number of 2074628001 and grade of 6.5

Fantastic Four #2 with a CGC number of 2041541001 and grade of 5.5

Fantastic Four #13 with a CGC number of 204154003 and grade of 4.5

20-year-old Rifahie Al-Rifahie, of Calgary, is charged with one count of robbery in connection to the incident.
