AHS warns of COVID-19 phone scam

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – It seems fraudsters are trying to take advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic in Alberta.
Alberta Health Services (AHS) says its received numerous reports of a phone scam telling callers they have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
The scammers then ask for your credit card number in order to send medical supplies.
AHS will never call & ask for credit card information. Please hang up immediately and report by calling the non-emergency line for local law enforcement.

AHS says its staff will never call you and ask for your credit card information.
If you receive a scam call, you’re asked to hang up and contact your local police.
