CALGARY (660 NEWS) – A cyclist has pleaded guilty following the death of a senior nearly two years ago.
On July 16, 2018, Paul MacNeil ran a red light while cycling through a marked intersection at Richmond Road near 17 Ave SW striking a 75-year-old man.
The man died in hospital three days later.
MacNeil was charged in January 2019 with failing to stop at an intersection red light.

Following MacNeil’s guilty plea, the Crown withdrew a separate charge of careless driving.
Under Alberta’s Traffic Safety Act, bicycles are considered vehicles and must obey all rules of the road.
A judge handed MacNeil a $1,000 fine following his guilty plea.
