GoFundMe for family of father, son from Okotoks killed in crash near Kamloops surpasses $70,000

KAMLOOPS (660 NEWS) — A GoFundMe page is providing an unfortunate update on a fatal crash that happened on Sunday near Kamloops.

Mike Cochlin, 47, from Okotoks was travelling with his two sons, Liam, 8, and Quinn, 5, on Highway 5A roughly 30 kilometres south of Kamloops, when police say the vehicle missed a turn in the road and went down an embankment around 5:45 p.m.

Upon arrival, emergency crews say Mike had passed away, while both Liam and Quinn were transported to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops. Liam passed away a short time later.

Quinn was transported to B.C. Children’s Hospital in Vancouver in critical condition.

While he has not officially been declared deceased, the GoFundMe page provided an update on Wednesday saying “Quinn will be donating his heart, liver and kidneys tonight. He is a hero.”

The page being set up by Amy Davies, a friend of the family, says the money will go to “provide immediate and long term help for Erin Cochlin, wife to Mike, and mother to sweet Quinn and Liam.”

Support for Davies has been mounting since the crash with the campaign having raised over $70,000 as of Thursday morning.

The goal of the fundraiser sits at $100,000.
