CALGARY (660 NEWS) – After a pair of random attacks at parks in the city’s south, police are assuring people the parks are safe.

On Saturday night, a 15-year-old boy was stabbed while walking with his mother at a dog park in Braeside in southwest Calgary.

The boy is expected to recover.

Staff Sgt Jeff MacQueen with Calgary police said the cases are not related but anyone walking through these parks at night should be careful.

“We’re not saying it’s unsafe out there. Be aware of your surroundings, be aware of who might be around. Travelling in dark areas, remote areas, certainly you want to travel with other people, other companions. There’s always safety in numbers.”

Police are still searching for suspects in both cases.

Officers said the man in Fish Creek was attacked by another man, 40 to 50 years old, with brown skin, black hair and a medium build.

At the time he was wearing a black top with white dots and black pants.

Police are also searching for a man between 40 and 50 years old in the stabbing in Braeside.

Investigators said the man was wearing dark clothing and a three-quarter-length jacket with reflective markings on it.
