CALGARY (660 NEWS) – A Calgary councillor is suggesting police might have to investigate the expenses from Ward 2 Councillor Joe Magliocca.

It comes after the city’s integrity commissioner disqualified himself from the probe, saying he didn’t know Magliocca claimed a lunch between the two last year.

On his Twitter page, Ward 6 Councillor Jeff Davison said he’s disappointed that Sal Lovecchio had lunch with a member of council when tasked as their watchdog.

“I think that the appropriate manner at this point is to look to Calgary police to conduct the investigation, as that independent body.”

Davison goes on to say Calgarians expect action and better governance from their council.

Some councillors are reportedly drafting a motion to remove Lovecchio as the city’s integrity commissioner.

Magliocca is under fire for expenses he claimed during the Federation of Canadian Municipalities conference in Quebec City and said he will pay back part of the money.
