Paralympian loses bag, leg from Calgary airport

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – An American Paralympic snowboarder is hoping someone grabbed the wrong bag at the airport as he finds himself without a leg.

Snowboarder Joe Pleban said his black Burton bag holding his snowboard gear, his boots and prosthetic leg went missing from the Calgary airport Sunday night.

Pleban is on his way to Kelowna for training and his sister Kaley has put out a plea on Reddit.

“All of this is very expensive gear. He needs it as soon as possible, he starts training today near Kelowna, he has a big competition coming up and other ones lined up after that as well.”

Joe and Kaley hope someone picked up the bag by accident and will give Air Canada a call when they open it up.

“We’re assuming that it was a mistake which is very common,” said Kaley. “He is on the U.S. Paralympic team and he’s done super well so far and I know this is very important for him to get his stuff back as soon as possible.”

Joe had his left foot amputated in 2014 due to constant ankle injuries. Before that happened, he embarked on a bucket list journey called ‘The Last Adventures of Joe’s Left Foot’.
