Calgary fire crews tackle garage fire in Parkland

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — Calgary fire crews took on a garage fire in the southeast Friday afternoon.

Shortly after 1:30 p.m. crews were called to a home on Parkland Boulevard for reports of a garage fire.

On arrival, a garage could be seen fully engulfed in flames in a back alley. Firefighters were able to take on the flames and keep it from spreading to neighbouring homes.

Surprisingly, a vehicle parked in the garage only sustained minor heat damage. No injuries were reported.

Enmax was on scene as the fire burned a power line above the garage.

Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire. A wood-burning stove was being used to heat the garage, it has yet to be determined if that is related to the cause.
