SWIFT CURRENT (660 NEWS) – Calgary Hitmen came back from a 3-1 deficit to beat the Swift Current Broncos 4-3 in the shootout on Wednesday night at Innovation Credit Union iPlex.

Josh Prokop scored the lone goal of the shootout.

Heading into the third period, the Hitmen were trailing 3-1 and would outshoot Swift Current 21-2 in the final frame of regulation.

Cael Zimmerman pulled Calgary to within a goal with less than nine minutes left, before Carson Focht put home the equalizer.

For Focht, it was his second marker of the night and 21st of the season.

The Broncos would get scoring from Jaxan Kaluski, who had a pair of goals, both coming on 5-on-3 power-plays, while D-Jay Jerome added a single.

It was a season-high 54 shots on goal for Calgary, just 3 short of a franchise record for road shots in a game.

Jack McNaughton made 19 saves on 22 shots, improving to 14-4-1-1 for the season.

Next up for Calgary, the Brandon Wheat Kings on Friday, Jan. 17, for the second stop on this five-game road trip.

It’s then off to Winnipeg for back to back dates with the Ice (Jan. 18/19) before concluding the swing in Red Deer (Jan. 25).

The next Hitmen home game is not until Sunday, Jan. 26 for a rematch with the Rebels.
