CALGARY (660 NEWS) — Calgary Transit is warning riders to be prepared for possible delays due to the extremely cold conditions in the city.

On Wednesday, Calgary Transit posted on Twitter mentioning some buses were delayed by 25 to 30 minutes.

The delays were attributed to the cold weather causing mechanical issues with buses, a problem they are prepared to deal with.

“Just making sure we have spare buses to make change-outs if needed or have staff on deck in case we need to respond to some sort of mechanical issue in the field,” Stephen Tauro with Calgary Transit said.

Buses weren’t the only thing delayed, Calgary Transit also warning of some minor delays for those who take the C-Train.

For the remainder of the week, Tauro encourages people to leave early just in case you run into any problems, and make sure to stay bundled up in case you do have a longer wait.

“Obviously use layers and be patient, we’re in this together, we’re driving in traffic, people are driving slower because of safety reasons and we really want to get customers to their destinations safely and warmly,” Tauro said.

Transit also got in touch with schools to warn them about delays.
