‘Can’t get away from what we’re doing’: Flames take win streak on road

MONTREAL (660 NEWS) — An Eastern Canadian road swing begins for the Calgary Flames Monday night with a stop in Montreal.

On display will be a meeting of two teams at different ends of the spectrum. The Flames come into action undefeated in 2020, riding a five-game winning streak. The Canadiens have hit the skids as of late, going 2-7-1 in their last 10.

But for Calgary’s Geoff Ward, the mentality is never to underestimate any opponent.

“They snapped a losing skid the other night, and first game at home after that, you know they’re going to come out hard,” the interim head coach explained. “Carey Price looks like he’s right back on his game. He’s always a challenge.

“Working with Claude [Julien] for so many years, I know the team will be ready to play. For us, we just can’t get away from what we’ve been doing. We’ve got to come in and play our game, focus on what we’re doing, making sure we’re not giving them any easy chances, especially early.”

Calgary’s only lineup change will come between the pipes.

The Flames enter action sitting in top spot in the Pacific Division.

Puck drop is set for 5:00 p.m. on Sportsnet 960 The Fan and Sportsnet West.
